While this sequence works well in leading Storm towards an epiphany of sorts, the event and overall turn around happen in pretty quick succession. A subplot revolving around a jilted student also proves interesting, the mentioned miscreant ultimately striking a nerve that shapes the issue. It's this resolute stance that makes her so endearing to those in the comic world and out, and it's something Pak captures here quite nicely. Though a tenured presence, Ororo is still prone to rebellion, particularly in the face of injustice. The writer presents her as a force with her head in the sky and her heart on the ground, her sense of conviction stronger than her belief in any rules or restrictions. Pak's Ororo is a veteran through and through, mature and comfortable with both her powers and the general reverence they receive. Right at the start we're reminded of Ororo's awesome power as she deftly deflects an incoming tsunami. From street urchin to Headmistress to former queen, there's no mutant quite like Storm.
